5 TIPS FOR MAINTAINING YOUR JEWELRY IN THE SUMMER

1- SHOULD WE REMOVE OUR JEWELS FROM THE POOL AND THE SEA?

A very frequently asked question and the answer is YES!
For two main reasons:
- In the swimming pool, the main effect of chlorine will be to oxidize your sterling silver jewelery (in gold, it will not move). They will therefore tend to blacken or rust. If you forgot to take off your jewellery, don't panic, nothing can resist a good trick from grandmother : lemon juice. Rub your jewel with a toothbrush and lemon juice (still delicately), you will see the oxidation will very quickly disappear.

- At the beach, the cold water could cause your bracelets or your rings to slip (we have all already found a piece of jewelry at the bottom of the water), it would be a shame to lose your favorite piece of jewelry. We advise you to remove them when going for a swim to avoid making your jewelry tarnished and brushed with sand.

Tips : Don't hesitate to take a small pouch in your beach or pool bag to put all your jewelery in before going for a swim. So you can find them easily and put them back later.

2 - REMOVE YOUR JEWELRY DURING CERTAIN ACTIVITIES

To avoid deforming your jewelry, it is also recommended that you remove your jewelry during certain activities. This is particularly the case for sports such as climbing or volleyball. The impact of the bullet on your ring could deform it, and even cause your diamonds to fall.

3 - PROPERLY STORE YOUR JEWELRY

In your suitcase, do not forget to bring with you a jewelry box or the case received with the jewel. This will allow you to store your jewelry neatly inside as soon as you need to remove them. A word of advice, in order to avoid friction between your jewellery, remember to space your jewelery well in your case or jewelery box. The ideal is to have a compartmentalized jewelry box with a dedicated space to the rings , to bracelets , to earrings or to necklaces .

4 - APPLY YOUR SUNSCREEN WITHOUT JEWELRY

At the beach, we all tend to apply our sunscreen while keeping our jewellery. Unfortunately, sunscreen contains chemicals that can damage your jewelry and make it duller. So, before putting on your sunscreen, we remove the jewelry!

5 - WELL CLEAN YOUR JEWELRY

After your return from vacation, take the opportunity to clean your jewelry. To do this, all you need is a little warm soapy water and ideally a small toothbrush with soft bristles (to avoid scratches). The toothbrush will allow you to reach small corners and remove all traces of dirt and dust.

Advice : I advise you to clean your jewelry once a month ideally. Other tips for maintaining jewelry are available on our website The Jewels of Aure .
